It has been 10 year of Topshop
supporting the British Fahsion Councils NEWGEN project. Since 2002 Topshop have
helped bring and supported many young British talented designer such as
Christopher Kane, Erdem, Meadham Kirchhoff and Mary Katrantzou to the global
fashion industry what an amazing achievement for the best and high-street
leader in the UK but also internationally from launching Topshop in America
this brings new light and interest to the British fashion industry and is
becoming more grown up and is sitting alongside the likes of New York and
Paris.
SHOWstudios Nick Knight was
commissioned to create a fashion film in celebrating “10 Years of Supporting British Fashion”. Within this fashion film
they have featured garments from the past 10years and one of collection just
for Topshop for example Mary Katrantzou. Was shown all over Somerset House at London
Fashion Week and also outside the Oxford Street flagship store.
Shot in a studio with very
minimal effects/props this then shows clothing off it has high fashion feel
about it. Only items used are – a running machine, spotlights, water and
mirrors. The music “Love is The Drug”
by Roxy music it gives a much more modern twist. At the beginning it opens with
the model Karlie
Kloss (who is the face of NEWGEN) waling in with a big lamp flashing the light
giving a dramatic entrance and saying “I AM HERE!” - The British has arrived. As the beat goes
in the Koss moves well and relaxes more in time with the music. It has
fantastic editing which is minimal but still has visual impact. In the lyrics
“The Beat Goes On” linked in well as Sir Philip Green announced on the press
launch at London Fashion Week that Topshop will be supporting for another
10years. At the end shows a more playful side as she is in the water which
connects to the Topshop consumer – Fun, Playful, Free and Stylish.
