PRADA Spring/Summer 2012

Photographer: David Sims

Model: Michael Pitt

Everything in the current Prada collection I just want! It has a new fresh look about it – as fashion revolves around 2 seasons a year and new trends emerge there has been for me a lack of a fresh and modern look, and this collection have a vibe of a new age in fashion bringing a new direction from 2012 onwards.

The collection has been influenced by the 1950s – a time of movement and change both within culture and post war. This was a beginning a dawn of the teenager young underground movements and Teddy Boys. It has been this particular decade that links well with the time now. The images for the promotion have the notion of 50s studio colours portraits. Model/actor Michael Pitt styled to emulate the golden age of Hollywood leading actor and icon Marlon Brando with a contemporary twist. I love how two images have been put together of the model wearing the same product but showing a relaxed yet also giving them a softer masculine side. Biggest story/trend for both men’s and womenswear has to be the prints. Stories all over the high street are channelling the ides and luxury of a Californian holiday. Prada’s prints were big for summer 2011, which have been developed from fruits to cars, they are the most wanted item which has influenced many collections for summer as Prada is a brand which is moving in a different direction not only fashion but moving into architecture and lifestyle.

For the womenswear promotion it has been done on location revolving around a petrol station or gas station as it is known in America. Cars passing each other with the glamour’s looking models looking at one another as a sign on envy. It looks to have been set in the hottest parts of the America but all of them not one hair out of place just stunning.
