Typography and Graphics - Week 1 Task

Back to uni after a month off! Where has Semester 1 gone? Anyway all ready to go for semester 2. This is the 1^st thing that we had to do in Typography and Graphics class which was unusual as we have never been tough in that way but using skills based on Moving Image. We got but into groups of 2 and 3 and given an article which we needed to read and come up with a overall feel what it was all about. For us it was “Katie Why She is The Most Wanted Woman in Fashion” basically all about Katie Grand life. The outcome was a image of a 3D graphic/picture that represented the article. Reading it we came up with the key points of Katie Grand’s life - feeing un-cool when she was younger, how she used to spend £250 per month on storage for all of her clothes, celebrity friends and all of her jobs and money she gets for styling all of the top fashion houses.

The reason that we decided on doing something like this was because it was clean and space something that she needs as in her new house is big but filled with magazines and a floor just dedicated to all of her clothing! WOW. Hangers representing all of her clothing, on the hangers we put on letters that was her name – which was text font in different text types to play on her childlike style for example her big bows in her hair. Playing on the “Grand a Minuet” which she is known for we printed out £50 and £100 noted and stick them on along with her friends (there was a lot of name dropping in the article) last of all we put the brands that she has worked for.

Overall I was happy with the final image in the 2hours we had to do it however we on looking at it there is a lot going on the hangers and I would, if having more time, do something different. This is the starting point for the 2 projects and the begging of our research books into the article which forms the basis of the 1^st projects. I am excited!
