Jaggy Nettle - Harris Tweed HiTops

This semester at uni it is turning out A LOT better in comparison to last. Not that it was awful or boring but it is more focused on individual work. Client Based Project 2 we are working with such a fantastic inspirational Scottish cashmere brand – Jaggy Nettle. The projects outcomes/goals is to create a 6page advertisement and editorial spread for Dazed & Confused magazine and also a promotional fashion film.

Currently working on what the narrative is going to be for my shoot. It is taking longer than expected but since this is a live project I want it to be something with real depth as the brand is not influenced by trends or seasons but much more about culture, external/internal and PEST factors. As a starting point I have dug deep into the brands core ethos as a starting point as the images have to be memorable yet eye-catching not only for the editorial but for the website itself.

So while doing research into product portfolio/range I am completely obsessed with these Harris Tweed Hi-Tops. The use of the traditional raw material, which is extremely iconic, has been brought into a modern everyday shoe, which wouldn’t normally have been used. Price - £150 it can seem a lot of money for shoes however, looking into the personality (you could say) about these shoes for your money you are helping sustain a vital/iconic textile trade in Scotland, Retaining and creating jobs within Scotland but moreover investing in a piece that will never go out of style and last in comparison to a quick fix from Primark which wont last harms the environment and supports low wages
